What To Wear On Thanksgiving Day

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Doesn’t it feel like October was yesterday? As we inch closer to turkey day, I know so many of you are on the hunt for the perfect outfit to wear for Thanksgiving day. In our family, we typically land somewhere between casual and dressy for our Thanksgiving day plans. You can bet there are going to be lots of family pictures! Any time I know I’m getting dressed not only for a holiday, but a photo opt, I head to Nordstrom to find the perfect look!

I grabbed my normal size in this dress and would say it runs true to size. I love that the color palette screams fall and the silhouette has a dressier vibe to it. If you’re wanting a more elevated look I would recommend pairing it with these suede booties and a shoulder bag to complete the look. However, don’t be afraid to wear it with sneakers if you’re going to be chasing the kids around! When I was checking out, I noticed they have this same print in a shorter version as well. If you’re wanting something a little more flirty, pair the shorter version with knee high boots for another great Thanksgiving day look!

How To Choose The Perfect Thanksgiving Day Look

When it comes to choosing the perfect look for your Thanksgiving day, there are a few different factors to consider. First ask yourself, what is going to make you feel confident, but also be comfortable? Are you going to be going outdoors? Will you be doing any walking? This may rule out heels or suede footwear if you are wanting to be practical. Another thing to consider is if you are going to be taking pictures, what will you have the rest of your family wear? If you need some ideas of how to coordinate a whole family, check out this post! I usually recommend starting with your look first, then deciding on the kids and leaving your husband for last. The men are always easy, just stick to neutral colors and you can’t go wrong!

Once you have all your questions from above answered, I recommend trying on a few different options. Don’t wait until the day of, or this could be stressful! All of these are perfect for fall, would look great in pictures, and have enough stretch for an extra helping of mashed potatoes!

Lastly, you want to make sure you complete your Thanksgiving day look with the perfect pair of boots or booties and a nice bag! It’s amazing what the right footwear and accessories can do for a look. I personally gravitate towards a neutral boot or bootie and a shoulder bag anytime I’m trying to achieve an elevated look.

If your dress is a midi length, I would suggest choosing an ankle boot. However, if your dress hits above the knee, a knee high or over the knee boot would look great!
