What I’m Doing to Stay Active During Pregnancy

14 December |

Happy Friday! I wanted to share a little bit about my pregnancy workout routine (or lack thereof if I’m being honest). Prior to getting pregnant, I was doing Barre classes 2-3 days per week. I’ve been a barre fanatic for the past 4 or so years and I’m really excited to get back into the groove when Collins is here. I also love to walk. I would walk a few miles per day with Birdie for additional exercise. In the summers or months where there is daylight for longer, Birdie and I would wait for Chris to get home from work and head out for a long walk to catch up on the day. I’ve always loved this time together.

When we started going through infertility treatments, like really in the thick of it, I stopped doing barre classes because I wanted to give my body a rest and give that little embryo every chance of implanting and staying implanted that I could. If you are new around here, you can read about our IVF journey HERE. I did continue walking, with my doctors approval, but not as far as I previously would.

As the weeks went by and I was approved for more activity, I started walking again. I decided to stay away from workout classes or anything really intense because part of me was just really tired and I didn’t have the time or energy at the end of the day to go take a workout class. I did continue walking and still walk to this day. Some days thats an hour’s worth other days it’s only 15 minutes. I’m just trying to listen to my body and when I feel like it’s telling me enough is enough, I listen.

Just as a reminder, every pregnancy is different. Every women’s body is different. What works for some when it comes to diet and exercise while pregnant might not work for others and that’s okay! You have to do what’s best for your body based off what your doctor says.

With all of that being said, I am still active and plan to be up until birth. Being active means wearing shoes that are comfy and supportive (especially for my swollen ankles). I recently purchased a pair of Adidas UltraBOOST 4.0 Running Shoes from Finishline and love them. Chris has been wearing the men’s UltraBOOST 4.0 Running Shoes for over a year so when I needed a new pair of running shoes for our walks and just something that was more comfortable to walk around in, I decided to give the UltraBOOST 4.0 Running Shoes a try.

They. Are. GOOD.

In fact, they are great! My foot feels like it’s walking on a cloud right now, which is really making this pregnant mama-to-be extremely happy! I can totally see how these would be amazing running shoes if running is your thing. Chris is a runner and loves them. He even trained for his most recent half marathon wearing them.

I’m excited to get back into the swing of workout and walking long distances once Collins is here and once I’m cleared to do so. Until then, I’ll be wearing the UltraBOOST 4.0 Running Shoes out and about because they are just so dang comfy!

Today’s post is sponsored by Finishline. As always, all opinions are my own.
