BUSINESS CASUAL MIDI DRESSES

what to wear to work as a teacher

One of my favorite things to throw on when I’m in a rush and trying to get out the door in the morning is a dress. Just add heels and you’re ready to go! Both of these midi dresses are super comfortable and less than $50. The chambray dress on the left is a little more casual, while the printed dress on the right is slightly more elevated. If you’re an expecting mama, both these dresses would work great with a bump.

RUFFLE MIDI SKIRT STYLED THREE WAYS

I love a good midi skirt almost as much as I love a midi dress. This lilac color just so happens to be the Pantone color of the year. I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot of it this spring and summer! Pair it with a printed blouse or go a little more casual with a chambray shirt. If you’re needing a more professional feel, opt for a classic white cami and layer a blazer over the top. I have been loving this tank that I layered with the blazer. The straps are wide enough where you can wear a normal bra. It’s also and it’s double lined, so you don’t have to worry about your undergarments showing through!

TROUSER PANTS STYLED THREE WAYS

STRIPED TEE | PANTS | TOTE BAG | FLATS | BLAZER | TANK |TANK (similar) | FLATS | SWEATER VEST | BUTTON DOWN | HEELS

I gave you a sneak peek of this soft green sweater vest in a recent Target try-on haul that I shared on Instagram stories. It comes in two other colors and runs true to size. I’m wearing the small. I love it layered over a classic white button down. This is one of those pieces that you’ll be able to wear into spring. Simply shed the extra layer and pair with white jeans for a casual weekend look.

These Banana Republic Factory trouser pants are very flattering. I believe every woman should have a few great pairs of dress pants in her wardrobe. This pair comes in a few other colors if you’re wanting to stock up! Add a blazer and neutral flats for a classic workwear look. If you are looking for a more casual Friday vibe, then pair these with a striped tee and a layered necklace.

CLASSIC BLACK PENCIL SKIRT

Another wardrobe staple is a classic black pencil skirt! This look on the left with the pink v-neck sweater would be a great option for a Valentine’s Day workwear look. It’s the perfect combination of festive and professional. If you’re wanting a more fun girly look, opt for a ruffle sleeve floral blouse. This is one of those pieces that you can wear on it’s own or layer a blazer over the top for added warmth. You can easily take either of these tops from work to weekend by ditching the skirt and heels combo and opting for jeans and sneakers!

business professional looks

BLAZER | SWEATER | SKIRT | HEELS | BAG | BLOUSE

If you’re in a professional office setting, these two looks are curated with you in mind. The look on the left is a classic power suit, with a flare for fashion. Don’t be afraid to incorporate color into your work wardrobe in subtle ways, like layering the sweater from above with a blazer. I always recommend choosing a pointed toe heel for a professional look. It’s classic while also helping to elongate your legs. Another business professional look is to pair a neutral blouse with your pencil skirt. The puff sleeve detail gives this Target blouse an elevated feel. The peplum waist on this blouse makes it the perfect option for leaving it untucked.

COLORED DRESS PANTS

As much as I love a good neutral, I think it can be fun to incorporate color into your work wardrobe. This straight leg pair of trousers from Target is a great inexpensive option. They have the perfect amount of stretch to them, and they hold their shape throughout the day. I recommend sizing up one size from your normal. When styling a bold colored pant, I recommend choosing a neutral top or a printed one that incorporates the color of the pant within the pattern.

CLASSIC BLACK DRESS PANTS

These straight leg black trouser pants are the same style as the ones above! I couldn’t resist grabbing them in a neutral color as well. Did I mention they are $25 and come in 7 other colors? Last year I shared a pair of Target pants that were very similar to these, and you loved them. When I saw that Target released these, I had to give them a try. They are already a new workwear favorite of mine. I love that you can pair them with just about anything in your closet!

One of my go-to workwear looks is a classic white button down and straight leg black pants. Add neutral mules and a tote bag to complete the look. If you’re in need of an extra layer, I recommend pairing this look with a camel colored trench coat.

CROPPED WIDE LEG PANTS

CARDIGAN | PANTS | FLATS | BLAZER | TANK | TANK (similar)| CHAMBRAY TOP | HEELS | BAG

A wide leg pant is not only super chic, they are by far some of my most comfortable dress pants. This is a workwear piece that you said you were struggling to style. If you’re a teacher and wanting a business casual look, the outfit on the left and the outfit in the middle are for you. If you’re taking video calls or in a business professional setting, the look on the right is styled with you in mind.

You can never go wrong with a structured plaid blazer. This one has hint of pink within the pattern, which I love! You can pair it with these light pink pants, classic black pants, a pencil skirt or even over a dress. I also love throwing on a blazer with jeans and a graphic tee on the weekend.

WIDE LEG PANTS

I recently picked up these wide leg pants from Target. I love them so much, I also ordered them in a green color as well! The chambray material is super soft, and you don’t have to worry about them wrinkling. These would be a great option if you are sitting frequently at work. I would also recommend these if you are traveling and need a comfortable business casual look.

  1. Thank you for these outfit ideas! It seems as if so many stores are heavy on the leisurewear-for-work concept lately and that just won’t fly for me. These are all cute and professional.
