Work Wear Friday – 50% OFF Favorites

28 December |

Happy Friday! If you are new around here, now is the best time to tell you a little bit on how Loverly Grey got started. I previously worked in sales for an IT Staffing Firm and was required to wear business professional attire every day. My love for styling and clothes started at a very young age so I was always trying to dress within the dress code but also make the outfits more than just a plain suit and heels.

When I was in my third year in sales, I started Loverly Grey as a creative outlet to share my favorite work wear finds for other struggling to put outfits together. Not only did I share work wear finds, I was also sharing where to find these said pieces that were on sale! My mom raised me to be a bargain shopper and for a good period of my life, everything I purchased was on sale. I was finding all these great deals on options to wear to work and I wanted to share “with the people”, as Chris would say.

In January 2019, I will have been running my blog full time for two years. That’s two years removed from the corporate world however, I try to still share weekly options for what you could wear to work for both professional and business casual settings. Every company has their specific policies so please go off of what your company is requiring and use my tips to update your look accordingly.

With all that being said, I wanted to share that LOFT is having 50% OFF all of their full priced items right now. I highly suggest stocking up on work wear for 2019 during this sale. I loved wearing their Marissa Fit pants (I mostly wore the cropped ankle option) with a blouse and patterned blazer. They also have several dresses that will work for business professional environments. I also loved shopping there for work clothes because the quality was always really durable. I tried to invest in pieces that would last for a long time not just shrivel in the wash after one wear.

I owe it all to my mom for introducing me to my love for LOFT. She would take me there in high school with her as she shopped for outfits to wear to her job – she was a teacher. You will sometimes hear me say in my LOFT try ons or posts that an outfit would be great for teachers and that because it’s something practical, functional and still stylish that a teacher could work in all day. In fact, coming up with business casual outfits might be my favorite business style to style because of my mom!

Now is a great time to snag this plaid blazer for work! It’s currently 50% OFF and won’t be lower than that anytime soon. I’ve paired it with a flowy white tank and leggings. I normally wouldn’t suggest leggings for the work place, however due to my pregnancy, that’s all I’m really wearing right now. If dressier leggings with a zipper detail is allowed at your workplace, just sub them for a pair of black pants to recreate this look.

As for sizing, everything you see here is true to size. I’m wearing a 0 Regular in the blazer (it doesn’t button on me right now but is the size i’ll need post baby). I’m wearing XS in the tank (the exact one is from LOFT but isn’t currently on their site. Try this one instead). And I’ve sized up and added a belly band for the leggings. I would normally wear a 0 Regular in this pair of leggings from LOFT but have on a size 2 regular (fun fact, they aren’t zipped or buttoned at all right now – thank you belly band).

If flats or mules aren’t allowed for you, just replace them with a heel to get the same look. I actually prefer wearing heels but think this look great for a business casual setting.

I’m excited to bring you more workwear in the new year once the baby is born! If you have any requests for work wear, please let me know below!

  1. I ordered this blazer so quick and scooped up a ton of new tops from Loft today! I’m starting an internship at an accounting firm in 2 weeks and still have no clue how to create business professional outfits that aren’t suits.. any tips and tricks are more than welcome and I’m excited to see what you’ll be sharing- because it’s always great! Thank you for doing what you do!

  2. For future work-wear posts, can we talk about pants?? I love the skinny look you’re rocking here, but find when I execute, I’m always a little self-conscious about the bottoms being too tight for the workplace. Yet, I feel totally uninspired by a traditional trouser… serious dilemma! Any creative suggestions, or alternatives would be great!
