Hi Friends!

If you are like me, you will be traveling somewhere this Holiday Season, even if it’s just a quick weekend getaway. My friend, Megan McQueen from Bloom Into Beautiful, and I are going to tell you some of our travel tips and tricks for your upcoming adventures. Chris and I just recently took a road trip to Rosemary Beach for Thanksgiving. We were there for almost a week with my family and it was awesome! It’s been forever since I’ve gone somewhere in driving distance for that long.

I’m not gonna lie, I tend to over pack. I wish that the bags you see above where the only ones I brought, but that just isn’t the case…When we are driving places I feel like I can bring more since we will have a car. Honestly y’all should have seen us packing everything in Chris’s truck. I can only imagine what it will be like when we have kids!

So first, let’s start out with what I like to wear on road trips. I’m all about comfort. Especially when you are riding in a car for 6 hours straight. On the ride down to the beach I wore the best oversized hooded sweatshirt and black workout leggings. This combo, plus my current favorite Nikes, is the perfect comfy combination.

On the way back I wore whatever was clean from the week. This tunic is literally the most soft shirt I own (it was worn a few times that week). I paired it with a Patagonia Better Sweater vest and moto leggings. The best part of the leggings is that they have a stretchy band. So although, they don’t look that comfy for a 6 hour car ride, they surprisingly are! I purchased this black hat from J.Crew Factory while we were at the beach and needed a way to get it home…on my head it went!

For luggage, I LOVE my Delsey luggage. I found this piece for a crazy low price before we went to Italy at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I think it was an online return because it was the only one in the store and it was marked down to $130. Like what?? This girl loves a good bargain so I couldn’t resist.

I recently was gifted the grey Vera Bradley tote and I love it. It’s the perfect size to throw your laptop, notebooks, glasses cases, iPad, extra sweater and anything else you might need as the passenger of a road trip. Plus it has a few side pockets inside for more goodies.

Anytime we travel by car, I take my Louis duffel. This trip I packed all my sweaters and cotton tops in it. It’s much easier to carry if it’s lighter so adding jeans or heavy materials isn’t smart for bag with no strap. You might notice I cam back with a black tote. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that I bought this tote on Black Friday. I’ve been loving since we got back and have been carrying it as an everyday purse. It’s perfect for my laptop but still really girly and classic.

One packing hack I have from you that I recently learned (thanks Landyn from Living with Landyn) is to pack your suitcase with your items on the hanger. I think this is mostly if you have a lot of items that you will be hanging up like blouses or dresses. So basically I packed a layer of jeans and workout clothes and everything that wasn’t on a hanger, then I put all my hanging clothes on top.

I really didn’t think I would be able to fit everything like this but it actually worked! And it was great when we got to the beach house, I just took all my hanging clothes straight to the closet and hung them up. I’m all about an easy tip like that one. We are headed to Boston for Christmas and I’m going to try it out there also!

Do you have a great packing tip you use on every trip? I’d love to know! Comment on my most recent instagram post with your answer.
