15+ Business Casual Outfits for Teachers

11 August |

This week’s work wear Wednesday, I’m bringing you 15+ business casual outfits for teachers, or really anyone that might be needing a little work wear inspiration. The foundation of all 18 looks are three classic pieces that every woman should have in her wardrobe; a little black dress, a pencil skirt and a great pair of black pants. Each of these pieces can be mixed and matched to create endless outfit combinations. These will carry you through the end of summer and into fall with the switch of just a few accessories!

This black ribbed midi dress is seriously so comfortable. I paired it with a cardigan and styled it two different ways. On the left is a slightly more casual fall look with booties and an open front cardigan. On the right, I dressed it up with a skinny python belt and long line cardigan. To elevate the look, add a neutral pair of heels. This dress also comes in a few other color options as well! It runs true to size, but does have a great amount of stretch to it. If you’re expecting this fall, both of these looks would work great with a baby bump.

Another way to style this dress is to layer a top over it. If it’s a little chilly, opt for a sweater vest and add a gold chain belt to give yourself a more defined waistline. You can also add a peplum top that already has a defined waistline built in! Complete the look with heel or flats.

Our next work wardrobe staple piece is a great skirt that hits just above the knee. This one runs large, I would highly recommend sizing down one size from what you would normally purchase. Grab one of your summer tanks and layer a cardigan over the top. Pair with flats and an oversized tote bag for a business casual look. If you have a day full of meetings and need a slightly more elevated look, pair it with a flutter sleeve top and heels.

I also love the look of this skirt with a wrap top! This is a great work wear look for all my nursing mama friends. The look on the right is a great mid week teacher look for when you want to be comfortable, yet maintain a professional feel. You can also tuck in a printed blouse and add your most comfortable flats to complete the look!

You can never go wrong with a classic white button front top in your work wardrobe. Tuck it in to give it a more structured look. You could also layer a blazer or cardigan over the top for a more elevated feel. I paired it with these slip on mules from Kell Parker. These are an all time favorite of mine. The quality is great and they are super comfortable for long time wear.

Our third work wardrobe staple piece is a classic pair of black pants. I especially love these because the kick cropped flare make them a little more on trend while still maintaining a professional feel. They have a great amount of stretch to them! I would recommend these whether you are sitting at a desk all day or on your feet teaching a classroom full of kids. I’ve already washed mine a few times and can tell they are going to hold up great. Plus, the price point is less than $50!

While I love a good denim jacket and black pants combo for a casual work wear look, I also love that you can easily dress these up with a statement blouse. Pair with flats or heels, depending on your day ahead. Add a designer handbag to round out the look!

Another way to style your black pants is by layering a crisp white button down under a long line cardigan. This is a great teacher look. Or if your office is on the cooler side, this may be a great option for you! You can also keep it simple with a classic blouse. Pair with a quilted bag to give your outfit a fun pop!
