Hello Friday! We landed in New York City yesterday and have been going, going, going ever since. There is just something about the hustle and bustle of a large city that I love. When I was picking out my looks for NYFW, I wanted pieces that made a statement. I also wanted items that were comfortable and items that could be worn multiple different ways. But most importantly, I wanted items that were affordable. I wanted you guys to be able to see how I was styling outfits and if they are ones you like, I still wanted you to be able to afford them and to turn them in to an everyday option in your closet. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely invested in a few more expensive pieces but for the most part, everything I’m wearing this weekend will come in under $150!
So first up is this amazing orange tiered, ruffle maxi skirt from Red Dress Boutique! Isn’t it a beauty? I saw it a few weeks ago when I went to visit the Red Dress team at their corporate location in Athens, GA. I knew I had to try it on and kept thinking how perfect it would be for my weekend in New York. It runs true to size, I’m wearing a small and it is a little longer than most maxi skirts. Which, honestly is fine by me because I love wearing heels. I was talking with Diana (the owner of Red Dress) about which top to pair with it and we kept saying how so many options would look good with it.
I decided to wear this look for meetings I had on Thursday afternoon in NYC so I went with a more casual approach and added a knotted black and white striped tee. I love this combo together and feel like the stripes make it edgy but the ruffles give it the feminine touch I love. The secret to my knotted tees is to buy a size or two larger in the tee so you have plenty of room to knot the bottom. Thankfully the skirt hits at a higher waist which is perfect for the length of this knotted tee.
We have a jam packed day ahead of us with meetings and shows. I’m so excited because I was able to snag a ticket to the kate spade new york presentation! Going to this show will be a dream come true. Make sure you are following along with me today on my Instagram Stories!
