After shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale on Sunday, and browsing through just about every tab of their website, I have to say I’m super impressed by the work wear options this year! Below I’m sharing a few of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale favorites, from cute fall dresses to the perfect black work pant. If you’re looking to add a few core work wear pieces into your work wardrobe, this post is for you!
In case you missed it, I shared a full try on haul of all my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I rounded up everything from the cutest work wear, to active wear and more. To view the full try on haul, click here.
I’m always on the hunt for classic pieces that will carry you from work to weekend with ease. This ruffle front top is exactly that! I have it paired here with the Spanx perfect black dress pants and my favorite pointed toe heels. However, you could also pair it with a suede skirt and boots or mom jeans and a pair of mules. I’m wearing size small in the top and an extra small in the pants. They are a little fitted, if you are in between sizes, I would size up. I’ve had mine for years and love stretch that they have, while also appearing structured. They truly are the perfect black pant for work!

When it comes to classic work wear pieces for fall and winter, there are a few pieces I highly recommend having in your closet. The first is a great wrap top that you can dress up or down. The next is a nice neutral cardigan that you can layer over everything. And finally, a neutral sweater that you can pair with just about any outfit. These three pieces will allow you to mix and match with what you already have in your closet. This will allow you to create countless looks! If want to avoid scrolling through endless pages of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale tab, I’ve rounded up my work wear must-haves below!

I’ve curated a few more styled looks from items that I came across during the sale, below! I’m showing you exactly how to style these for work and even giving you suggestions on how to take these same looks from work to weekend. I’m all about stretching your wardrobe to get the most bang for your buck!

You can never go wrong with a classic pair of black dress pants. I’m loving the cut of both of these and the price point is less than $100! I love that you can pair a classic black pant with a fun blouse like the one on the left or a bodysuit and cardigan, like the outfit on the right. Both outfits look great with a simple pair of pointed toe shoes and a classic handbag. To take either of the looks from work to weekend, switch out the black pants for jeans and add a pair of neutral mules.

For en elevated work wear look, pair a tweed pencil skirt like this black and white one with a mauve sweater. This one would be perfect to front tuck in. Add my favorite neutral, pointed toe heels and a cream coat to complete the look. I love that this is one that you can wear starting in the fall and all through winter! And if you’re looking to take this look into the weekend, pair the same mauve sweater with black jeans and ankle booties for a casual fall outfit.

Another favorite work wear look of mine is to pair a fall dress with boots! Here you can see how to style both a midi dress and an above the knee dress. Since we are creating a work wear look, I usually do taller boots with shorter dresses and shorter boots with longer dresses. This gives it a balanced and professional feel. To take these looks for work to weekend, simply add sneakers and you’re ready for a fun Saturday afternoon.

For a more casual work wear look, pair this suede skirt with a silky tank and mauve cardigan. Opt for knee high boots and a two tone watch to complete the look. Since this skirt hits mid thigh, I prefer to pair it with high boots so that less skin is showing for work. If you want to take this same skirt and wear it on the weekend, simply add a graphic tee and sneakers!
