Still can’t believe I’m writing this. I’ll honestly feel this way this entire pregnancy I’m sure. Where to even begin…

I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant with a little girl who was a major surprise. We weren’t not trying but we also went through years of infertility & struggle so we didn’t think getting pregnant on our own was going to happen for us. We knew it was a possibility so we knew what we were getting into by not going on birth control or using protection after Collins was born. But let it be known, we were shocked to see that positive pregnancy test. I kept telling Chris, “this must be what people feel like when they just get pregnant on their own”!

Collins was 8 months old when we found out we were pregnant. I’m very excited that they will be close in age and I’m even more excited that Collins is getting a little sister. I always wanted a sister (I have one brother) and I’m excited to raise to little girls.

My first trimester felt very similar to that of Collins’. I was very tired, even more so this time because of having a little one. I am thankful to not have had any morning sickness. I do get a little nauseous from time to time but haven’t been full on sick. With Collins I had a ton of heartburn and I can already feel a little of that coming on with this babe.

I will say that I feel like I “popped” a lot sooner with baby two. It was getting hard to hide the bump in my try ons.

I haven’t really made a ton of changes to the products I’ve been using as far as skincare, makeup or hair products. Everything I was previously using is pregnancy safe (I lost use all Beautycounter products). Of course if you have any questions about what you are using, check with your doctor! Every person and doctor is different! I do still drink coffee because 1. Mom life and 2. My doctor has okayed up to 300mg per day.

As for what I’m eating, I don’t feel like I’ve made any crazy changes. I snack more throughout the day and I try to always start out with a protein shake before breakfast for the extra protein. My cravings have kind of been the same as with Collins. I craved macaroni and cheese and still do. Panera mac n cheese is my current go-to! I also love baked goods and ice cream and usually indulge while watching tv at night. But honestly I did that before not sure if that’s just a me thing or a pregnancy craving! Aside from these sweet treats, I try to eat somewhat healthy. I also don’t have a gallbladder so my body processes food different than someone with a gallbladder. There are foods I must avoid and foods that if I don’t avoid, I’ll be in the bathroom shortly thereafter (sorry, TMI). Every single person is different and this is just me.

We do have a name for Baby Girl but we have decided to keep it a secret until she is born. We recently found out that her first name is a family name on both sides so that has made it even more special for us!

We are still trying to decide our plans for a nursery or big girl room for Collins. Working on a few things related to that so we will hopefully get to that project at some point of the second trimester!

I think that’s about it for now. I’ll still continue sharing non maternity clothing but will start adding maternity options for those of us who are pregnant. Excited to take y’all along on this journey!

  1. Hi Brittany! Congrats on #2, so excited for you guys!!
Quick off topic question, my daughter and I do a short trip every year for my bday at the end of January. We’re from KY and thought maybe Atlanta would be a good destination. Or maybe a suburb? Would you have any suggestions? If so, thanks and I’ll completely understand if you don’t have time. 😊 ~Sandy

    • Hello,
That would be fun! What type of activities do you both like to do? Atlanta does have some good little areas to visit. There are also things like the Aquarium, Coca Cola factory, Zoo, and lots of shopping. Also, depending on if you wanted to be out of city there’s areas with shopping but also just cute downtown places to visit local.

      • Thanks for getting back to me!
We love shopping 🤦🏻‍♀️ And we especially love finding unique places to shop. We also love to eat and always look for the places only known to locals instead of the typical chain type of restaurants.
Pretty much anything out of the ordinary that would not be “what everyone else is doing”. Does that make sense at all?? Thanks!!

  2. I have been following you, and I am really excited for you and your little family. Names are so important! I really wanted all 4 of my children to love their name. My daughter’s name is Griffin. She loves her name and has received compliments her whole life. My 3 boys have great names too❤️ Congratulations, Brittany!

  3. I had my ivf baby the week after you and we also got pregnant naturally and I’m currently 16 weeks! Both girls for us too! Still in shock every day and don’t think I’ll truly believe it until she’s here. Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy <3

  4. This is wonderful ~ such an amazing gift from God! I always wanted a sister (one brother) so it’s going to be so much fun for both girls! Congratulations!

  5. Congrats ❤!! I love your blog . It’s been so helpful for my work style. I apologize if this is already somewhat else but which protein powder do you use? I’ve had a hard time finding one I like.

  6. Ohmigosh, congratulations!! I can only imagine how shockingly exciting that was for you two! I followed along as you discussed your struggle, the announcement of Collins, and was super excited when I saw this post about baby girl number 2. I loved seeing your pregnancy fashions and missed your bump after the birth of Collins, so I can’t wait to vicariously live through that again over the next few months. I will also add, there is something about subsequent pregnancies after the first that it seems we mommas just pop out with our baby bumps much sooner than before. With my first, I didn’t show until about month 5 but with my second, I was showing around month 2 1/2 … it’s crazy! Congratulations again!
