DRESS | FLATS

Back-to-school season is here, and I’m back with the 4th annual Teacher Outfit Ideas series! This is hands-down one of my favorite things to put together each year. My mom was a teacher, so styling these looks feels a little nostalgic and very full circle. Whether you’re setting up bulletin boards, surviving open house, or sprinting to morning duty with coffee in hand, these outfits were created with you in mind!

Teacher Outfits to Recreate in 2025

Striped T-Shirt Dress

I’m kicking off with styling a classic black and white t-shirt dress four ways! First, belt it and add flats for a look that you can wear now. Next, throw on sneakers and a big tote for planning days when you’re living on iced coffee and to-do lists. For chillier mornings, add a cardigan or open-front sweater to complete the look.

Denim Dress

Every teacher needs that one piece you can throw on in five minutes and still feel pulled together, and this striped t-shirt dress is it. It’s Classic, comfy, and incredibly versatile. Plus, I love that it easily transitions from summer to fall!

One thing I’ve learned from putting together teacher wardrobes year after year: your outfits are only as good as your shoes. When you’re on your feet all day, whether you’re walking the halls, standing at the board, or chasing little ones during recess, you need shoes that work as hard as you do.

A few great pairs of versatile, comfortable shoes can completely elevate your wardrobe and make getting dressed in the morning so much easier. I always recommend starting with the basics: a pair of neutral flats, go-with-everything sneakers, something a little dressier for conferences or events, and a fun pair just because you deserve it.

I’m rounding up all my favorite teacher-friendly shoes below, each one stylish, supportive, and classroom-tested. These are the pairs I reach for again and again, and I think you’ll love them too!

When it comes to building a teacher wardrobe, versatility is key, and this tiered maxi skirt delivers. Styled three different ways with a striped button-down, a denim short-sleeve top, and a lightweight shell, this look proves you can stay polished and comfortable all through-out your week. Whether you’re dressing up for meet-the-teacher night or keeping it casual on a Friday, these combos are stylish without the stress.

Classic Cropped Flare Pants

Cropped flares are a great option when you want something a little different from your usual jeans or dress pants. They’re comfortable, flattering, and easy to dress up or down depending on your day. You’ll find yourself reaching for them more often than you think.

The right everyday bag is another non-negotiable for a great teacher wardrobe. You need something that can carry all the essentials, like lesson plans, snacks, a laptop, and random crayons, and still look put together.

I love a classic open tote that goes with everything, but to keep it from turning into a black hole, I always pop in my Amazon bag organizer. It keeps everything in place (no more digging for your keys at the bottom!) and makes it super easy to switch bags during the week without unpacking everything.

Long Sleeve Striped Dress

This striped dress from Walmart is a great workwear staple that’s both polished and practical. The classic stripes make it easy to style, while the bows on the sleeves give it a playful look. Pair it with flats for a casual office look or elevate it with heels and a blazer for meetings or after-hours events. It’s one of those pieces you can wear on repeat and still feel put-together every time.

Casual Blue Dress Styled Two Ways

This mini drop waist shift dress is the perfect lightweight option for those hot teaching days when comfort is key but you still want to look put-together. It’s easy to layer with a denim jacket or lightweight blazer while you’re in the classroom. Once the final bell rings, shed the layers and slip on a pair of sandals for a casual look that’s perfect for meeting up with friends after work.

White Wide-Leg Jeans

These wide leg jeans from Target are such a steal at under $30—and they truly look and feel high-end. I gave mine a little DIY touch by cutting the bottom for a raw hem, and I love the effortless, on-trend vibe it adds. They’re truly high-waisted (no awkward gapping!) and have just the right amount of stretch to move with you. Plus, they come in multiple colors, so you can grab more than one pair without breaking the bank.

White Tiered Maxi Skirt

This white maxi skirt is one of those versatile pieces you’ll reach for again and again. It’s light and airy enough to wear now with a tank or tee and sandals, but it transitions beautifully into fall with a cozy knit sweater and ankle boots. The crisp white color adds a fresh, elevated feel to any outfit, and the length makes it easy to dress up or down depending on the day. Whether you’re heading to brunch or layering up for cooler evenings, this skirt effortlessly works across seasons.
