THE MEN’S GUIDE TO THE 2020 NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE

Hi Friends!

I am back on the blog today to share my guide for the 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Before we get into the blog, I wanted to point out the pictures were my first mirror selfies so be kind with your comments. Okay, now that we have gotten that bit of housekeeping out of the way let’s get into it. For those that have been following for a while know I wrote a post about the Anniversary sale last year, and the points I made remain the same. This sale is a great time to purchase big ticket items that typically don’t go on sale. My two categories I highly recommend targeting are Suits and Luggage.

Where to Invest – Formal

I have always believed that everyone should own a suit, and luckily the Anniversary sale has you covered. What I really like is the variety of options that are available. No matter your body type or the cut you prefer, there is an option for you. For the extra slim suit I like the Hugo Boss, for the slim fit I like Ted Baker, and for a traditional fit I like Peter Millar.

If you are already covered in the suit department, but are looking to add something a little more formal to the closet, I would look at the selection of sport coats. I had been looking for a light blue coat for a while that I could wear with dark jeans and fell in love with this Peter Millar coat. I am also a big fan of the Bonobos Jet Setter for those looking a little less formal. The last jacket I really like is more of a raincoat that will be great for fall is the Cole Haan Signature Car Coat. It is heavier than I thought it would be so I am going to use it for most of the Georgia winter as well. For when the temp drops too much for that, I am going to switch to this Barbour Kensington Jacket. I am a big fan of Barbour as they are warm, but not heavy, and can be dressed up or down.

Travel Essentials

The other high price item I would look at is luggage and travel accessories. When it comes to luggage I am a big fan of Tumi. I know its expensive but I have had my Tumi luggage for over 5 years and it is still going strong. There is nothing worse than traveling and having your luggage break(trust me I know), so if you are in need of some luggage or travel accessories, this sale is for you. Whether you want a carry on or a larger checked bag, a dopp kitt or a backpack, there is a product on sale for you. If you prefer traveling with a duffel bag there are plenty of options at various price points. I like the Ted Baker, Hershel Co, and Tumi.

2020 Favorites

Now that we have gotten past the staples that I look out for every year, now lets talk about the items that I love for the 2020 sale. Let’s start with my favorite pick for this year, and what I might go as far as saying is a must buy. These Peter Millar shorts are a staple in my rotation. Whether it’s brunch, golf, or just running errands, I love these shorts. They are light, dry fit, can be dressed up or down, and are true to size. I have them in multiple colors and are my absolute favorite buy for this sale. With fall right around the corner I am going to be transitioning from the Peter Millar shorts into the Peter Millar Performance pants. Again just like the shorts, I love the versatility of these pants. I can start the day at church, go play a round, then finish with a socially distanced date night dinner, and wear the same pants all day long. Just like Brittany and the way she styles different things together, I love versatile pieces that can be used multiple ways and these pants fit the bill!

With everything going on in the world, we are all spending more time at home including working from home. If we are going to be at home, we might as well be comfortable, and nothing says comfort like these UGG slippers. If you are looking for a new pair of shoes, my favorites are the Cole Haan GrandPro, the Cole Haan Generation ZeroGrand and the Nike Air Max 270. I was very excited during the preview because I have had my eye on the GrandPro for a while and was pumped when I saw them on sale! I love my ZeroGrand’s and this is easily the best price I have seen them at. I would recommend sizing down a half size in the GrandPro, 11.5 to 11, and a full size in the ZeroGrand, 11.5-10.5 for me. Both pairs of Cole Haan’s can be dressed up or down and can be worn straight from the office to date night. For those that might have to wear a button down for a Zoom call, I recommend Mizzen + Main. These are my favorite button downs as they have a stretchy dri-fit feel and are over 50% off! To stay on theme, these shirts are also versatile as they are great for work, date night, and everything in between.

The last of my favorites is a current staple of mine, the Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket. The jacket comes in a full zip or quarter zip and is a great fall option or can be layered in the winter. Personally, I go with the quarter zip but either option is great!

The Anniversary sale can be overwhelming as there are a ton of different products that are on sale. Everything from luggage, to work wear, to athleisure, if there are certain items you need, you can most likely find something on sale. My hope is that if you are going to be shopping the sale, I helped at least get you started.
