Mixing Patterns & Statement Earrings

30 August |

You guys!! I’m so excited to share that I have a brand new website!! I am so happy right now I can barely stand it! When I first started blogging, I worked with a designer to help me custom make a theme for my WordPress.org blog. At the time I really was still thinking this blog will just be a hobby and I often thought people probably saw my blog and would think, “Awww, look at her cute blog. What a great hobby.” But what I wanted people to see & feel when they looked at my site was, “Wow, she is a legit Blogger. Look at her site!” With changes over the last year and the switch to making blogging my full time job, I’m so happy to now be upgraded to a better site that is more my style! Thank you Gina from Bella Creative Studio for making this site perfect! Feel free to stay a while and take a look around. There are a few pages that don’t have any info yet and those are areas I’m working to fill out asap so please be patient with me!

Another exciting reason I wanted you to stop by Loverly Grey today is because I’m sharing a fun look with Nordstrom. The cooler weather brings out my love for pattern mixing. You guys have given me great feedback recently on me sharing work looks with y’all so I am going to try hard to continue sharing them each Wednesday. When I was working a corporate job, I loved mixing patterns for a bold look that really made me stand out in my office. I still love mixing patterns and I’m always in the market for the pants with a pattern on them.

I 100% think that mixing florals with another bold pattern is a definite YES! For example, this Halogen tunic paired with these Leith Windowpane pants. The blouse has some black in it so that’s the colors bringing this look together but they are each so bold that it just works! The blouse is actually long enough to wear as a tunic. I tried this top on with my Spanx leather leggings and loved the way it looked, especially if you add a chunky necklace. I really like investing in clothing that you can wear multiple ways so you are getting the most out of each piece. Both the pants and the blouse allows you to create such bold looks where each piece is a statement in the next outfit.

As for sizing, the tunic is longer, I just have it tucked in to the pants for a more professional look. It’s true to size and I’m wearing my normal XS in this brand. The pants….wait for it…are pull on! They have an elastic waistband that stretches and they are amazing! I’m also wearing my normal size in these – XS. I have another pair of pants from this brand (these ones) and I’m wearing an XS but the windowpane ones seem to fit a little more true to size, whereas the others are a little more snug in my normal size.

Another trend I like to add to a bold outfit is a statement earring. These Madewell halfmoon fringe earrings are sooo cute and will be worn a ton in the near future. They are very lightweight and only $34. I feel like they really bring together this outfit. You have a dark accessory next to a lighter pattern then a dark print so the black on the outside makes the look complete!

Please let me know if you have any additional questions on sizing for today’s look. I would also love if you check out my new site and let me know what you think! My goal was to make it much easier for you all to navigate so I can’t wait to hear what you think!!

Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring today’s blog post. As always, all opinions are my own. You can also donate on the Nordstrom website to the Red Cross to help provide relief to those in need in Houston, Texas.

  1. I am wearing these pants at work today after purchasing based on your recommendation – they are the BEST work pants I’ve ever owned. So comfortable and sleek looking. Thanks for the recommendation!

  2. Love this look! I ordered the earrings and tunic. I love the black bow on the tunic you have on. The one on the website shows the bow to be in the same fabric as the tunic though???? For future sizing reference, how tall are you? I am 5’8″ so length is sometimes an issue for me. Thanks for this amazing post!

  3. Great website, however, a typo: ” Fell free to stay” should read as “Feel free to stay” in the first paragraph. And so love the pattern mixing!

  4. oh my goodness! LOVEEEE the mix prints! You make it look sooo good!! Also, I NEED this purse in my closet! (Closet?!?) Where do we say we need a purse!? Ha

  5. I absolutely love your new site – It’s beautiful! I love pattern mixing, especially office wear! I think it adds a bit of fun and shows your personality. Office wear should never be boring! 🙂
