What to Wear – Wedding Edition

If you are like me, you probably have a wedding or seven to attend this summer. In fact, we are heading to Chicago this weekend for one and I cannot wait!! The question always pops up, what should you wear? Obviously each wedding is different and the invitation or wedding website should give you some information on the style of the wedding. I always say air on the side of more dressy than not. I can’t think of a time where being overdressed to a wedding is a bad thing (within the lines of the bride and groom’s wishes, of course!)

You simply cannot go wrong with a simple black dress & this one here seems pretty perfect! It’s strapless with the popover detail. It’s classic, timeless and perfect for every wedding setting. This exact dress also comes in a handful of other fabulous colors that would be perfect for a wedding too. It’s under $100 and is the best material…perfect for dancing the night away. I’m wearing an XS for reference.

I might even decide to wear this dress this weekend in Chicago. I originally wanted a longer dress because the invitation says semi-formal, however I’ve left finding this dress to the last minute so now I’m in a bind. Do I rent a dress from Rent the Runway and have it shipped to the hotel or do I go with a shorter, yet still formal black dress? To be determined..

I’ve added simple accessories to this look including a beaded clutch…fun fact about this clutch, I actually wore it in my own wedding and usually now just reserve it for special occasions! Here is a similar option. I also have on my favorite pave diamond gold link bracelet (currently marked down to $68), pink velvet heels and crystal earrings. I wanted my accessories to be as classic as the dress itself.
