Encourage Others + Striped Dress

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a great Memorial Day Weekend! It was so nice to be in Boston with Chris’s family. Seeing the way Chris plays with our one year old nephew always makes me so excited to have kids someday – he is going to be a great daddy! Chris and his brother ran a half marathon on Sunday morning and they finished with a time of 2:01:48. They seriously did an amazing job and i’m so proud of Chris for all his hard work.

I was able to spend time with my sister in law, Krysten and catch up on life which I always love to do. I so wish that we were closer to them so our visits could be more often instead of every six months or so. We finished off the weekend with time at Chris’s parents a few towns over and had dinner with his grandparents. It was so fun to hear stories of when Chris was a little kid. I’m thankful for our time with each of our family members this weekend.

I’m not really sure why I feel so compelled to write about this but I read a few nasty comments about me over the weekend and it just got me thinking about how negative words can really hurt someone. I know that I put my life out there and that not everyone will agree with me and that is 100% fine! What I don’t understand is how people can be so rude by directly putting someone down. The comments were said on a brand’s page that had reposted my picture on Instagram. I don’t want to get into it and thankfully that brand deleted the comments but it just makes me sad that other women, who probably have the same struggles, would rather put someone down then help lift them up.

I hope to always show you guys encouragement and support never sour words or hate. One of the main reasons I love what I do is because I get to encourage other women. I get to share my opinion with y’all and help you find new ways to wear clothes you didn’t think you could. I know there will always be those people who are negative and want to put others down. My sad feelings this weekend about those comments just got me thinking about how important it is to stay positive and continue to encourage others!

You guys are seriously the best! Because of your love and support for Loverly Grey, I was able to hit over 40,000 followers on Instagram this weekend! Like, WHAT?? It’s so crazy to me to know that there are that many people out there who care about me and want my opinion on how to dress. I am so thankful for each one of you!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for helping me get to where I am today!

So for the details on my look today, this dress is amazing! It’s a thicker cotton with an A line shape. For one, I love the black and white stripes. Two, these tassels sleeves are seriously the cutest! Such a fun way to spice up a striped dress. As for sizing, it does run a little big so I would size down. I’m wearing an XS. I paired my favorite teal necklace with it (currently on sale here)! This necklace is amazing and you need it in your closet for summer! I’m carrying my new Kate Spade purse that is the perfect size. Not too big, or too small! And the color goes with literally everything.

  1. Hi! I just discovered your blog and love your style- it makes me smile! Sorry you came across negative comments in cyberspace. Not sure what the point of posting something like that is, but I suppose some prople feel better about themselves when putting others down? Regardless, I enjoy your fashion sense and I have gotten some good tips from you, so please continue !!!!

  2. Girl, keep doing you!!! Haters gonna hate, and they sure know how to show anger towards those who reach success (like you!), but they are just unhappy with their own lives and feel the need to bring others down with them.

    Keep shining, pretty!

  4. You look cute as a button! I love that dress!

I’m so sorry you had to deal with mean comments this weekend. My rule is, if I wouldn’t say it to someone’s face, I don’t write it on the internet. Unfortunately, some unhappy people like to hide behind their computers and say some not nice things 🙁 Thanks for spreading positivity- your site & social media are my favorites!
