Charleston Fashion Week

17 March |

What a quick but fun trip to Charleston this week!! When Lindsay asked me if I wanted to make a trip to my favorite city for the first two days of Charleston Fashion Week, I was quick to say yes to this adventure. Lindsay is a manager for a showroom at the Atlanta Mart and had some great connections for this event. Hopefully you followed along on my Instagram Stories to see all the fun we were having!

Day 1:

We arrived in Charleston on Tuesday afternoon and stopped for lunch at one of my all-time favorite lunch spots, Amen Street Oyster Bar. If you go to Charleston, you have to eat there! They have an appetizer called “Shrimp Corndogs” and they are amazing. I could have eaten a giant plate of them for lunch. We quickly ordered celebratory cocktails to kick off our Fashion Week and let the food roll on in. We enjoyed fried green tomatoes, she-crab soup and raw oysters to start. Then we moved on to shrimp and grits and man were they good. They add little andouille sausage bites in it and it gives it the best flavor. We couldn’t leave without trying the dessert and the s’mores brownie and pancetta did not disappoint. The staff and team at Amen Street is amazing! Thank you so much for having us for lunch, we loved it!

We checked in to the Embassy Suites on Marion Square and it could not have been a better location to Fashion Week. The shows were taking place in Marion Square and were literally set up right outside our room. Talk about the perfection location. So we changed real quick, snapped a few pictures, then went to check in and pick up our media credentials.

Disclaimer – One thing about bloggers is that we take a ton of pictures (obviously!!). So what I personally like to do is bring a few extra outfits of looks that I want to share with y’all in the coming days/weeks, take those pictures ahead of time, especially when you are in a pretty location and then it’s additional content to share. So we did do a lot of extra picture taking while we were there this time.

Okay, back to the shows…so we got checked in and they had all these tents set up with local Charleston stores and vendors that could walk around and look at. This event was put on by Belk and Lexus so there was tons of swag for everyone. We met up with a few other bloggers like Holly from Make Today a Holly Day and Carol & Kenzie from KC Doubletake. We look our seats and the show began. The first night was really cool to see the first four emerging designers plus Charleston Boutiques that walked in the show. One of my favorite looks was a black ruffle one shoulder one piece by Ted Baker….y’all this suit was gorgeous! I went to Julep on Wednesday and bought it. I can’t wait to wear it this summer!

After the first night of shows we went for dinner at Halls. This was actually my first time to Halls and I’m happy to say I was thoroughly please with my steak martini! Since we were eating so late, we just sat at the bar and ordered from the bar menu. Our bartender was so great and the ambiance was very classic, southern local steakhouse. We loved it!

Day 2:

We had an early morning on Wednesday with a coffee date at Black Tap Coffee with the designer and owner of Lilla P! This was such a cool meeting and I can’t wait to wear more of their pieces this Spring. Pauline and Nicolette were so great and I genuinely enjoyed getting to know them more. After coffee we went over to Copper Penny on King Street and then did a little shopping on King.

After shopping, lunch, pictures and more shopping, we all got ready and went to Happy Hour at Cannon Green before the shows started. Cannon Green is an amazing venue. It’s a restaurant but also an event space and would be a great location for a rehearsal dinner. The drinks were amazing. I went with a cocktail called the Wild Spaniard and it was a grapefruit and champagne concoction – two of my favorite liquids combined (insert heart eye emoji here)! We ordered delicious food and took in the beautiful location. Our bar tender was also so nice and I would highly recommend a visit to CG if you are Charleston soon. He also told us that Sunday Brunch is to die for…I might have to go back just to try it out!

We were so excited for Night 2 of Fashion Week because Anna Cate Collection was walking in the show and Anna Cate is an emerging designer out of North Carolina. She is also Holly Boyd’s sister and I have been following her collection for a while now. Such beautiful resort pieces! I was also sooo pumped about the second night because one of my favorite blogger, Brighton Keller from Brighton The Day was there. She sat right in front of us and I totally fan girled it and went up to her during a break. She is the nicest person and gave me some great blogging advice. We also talk about Jesus and her advice was just what I needed to hear (love when that happens)! After the show, we went over to the Dewberry Hotel for a few late-night bites. I’m really interested in try their full restaurant next time we are in town.

Our trip was short and sweet but so worth it. I wish I could have stayed the whole weekend but one of my best friends in the world is getting married this weekend in Jekyl Island. I’m so excited to be standing by her side as she marries her sweet man.

We met so many great people in the few days we were in Charleston and I’m really excited to see how some of these relationships continue to develop! Thank you again to everyone who made our time there amazing!

I’d love to hear your favorite parts of Charleston! I’m also adding to my running list of this to do when I visit.
